In the world of sailing, the Sailing Award 2024 is not just a prize; it is a recognition of excellence, a source of inspiration and a symbol of sharing the passion for sailing. We at Swiss3D had the honor to realize this important award in collaboration with Pikka GmbH. Join us on a journey behind the scenes, from the first drafts to the shiny, finished product that the winners proudly held in their hands at the gala in the "Theater Casino Zug".
From vision to prototype
Our adventure began with a vision, the S-ball, which stands for superlatives such as super, sail, sailing, sailforce and sensational, outlined by Pikka GmbH. We took on this challenge with enthusiasm. For the first step, the prototype, we chose PLA Silk gold using the FDM process. This material offered the perfect gloss and quality we needed for the first impression of the award. It was fascinating to see how our ideas took shape and the prototype slowly became a reality.
The art of manufacturing
After printing the prototype, we set about mass production. We opted for the SLA technique to achieve the fine detail and smooth finish that would make this award truly spectacular. We carefully painted and polished each award gold to ensure it would shine under the lights of the gala night. It was a process that required precision and dedication, but the result was worth every moment.
The gala night
When the big day arrived and the Sailing Award 2024 was presented at the "Theater Casino Zug", we were filled with a sense of pride. Over 120 attendees, including outstanding junior sailors and members of Club Sailforce, witnessed our work light up the stage. The Golden Sailforce Award, this year in the form of an impressive "S-ball", was a highlight of the evening and symbolized the values that are cherished in the sailing community.
